Although the main intention of taking this trip to Pittsburgh was to see the football game on Monday, my boyfriend and I found just how romantic this city can be. We started our trip on Saturday by checking into the Radisson Green Tree Hotel, which is just outside of the city lines on the other side of the Fort Pitt bridge tunnel. We chose this hotel based on the cost alone, but fell in love with the incredible service and amenities there. From the hotel, we decided to head up to Mount Washington. We heard all about the Duquesne Incline and knew we had to ride it while we were in town for the weekend. Unknowingly, we had timed it perfect. The sun was just starting to go down and the sky was a beautiful sight to see as we rode down the side of the mountain and to Station Square. We browsed the mall area there for a while and grabbed a quick meal at the food court. Heading back up the incline, we took in all of the lights of the city and the huge buildings in the skyline. The next morning, we ate breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Afterwards, we explored the Penn-Liberty Historic District of Pittsburgh and went through the Andy Warhol Museum. For lunch, we rode the Duquesne incline back up Mount Washington and grabbed a quick but delicious meal at a local deli. Afterwards, we ate ice cream and checked out the overlook next to the incline. It was amazing and so romantic to hold hands and see the city below us. That night, we chose to have a romantic dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse downtown. The food was incredible and the service was wonderful. We had such a good time that we hung out in the bar after dinner for a while. The next day was game day, so we headed down to Station Square to meet up with other Steelers fans and ride the ferry across the river to the stadium. It was an amazing trip and I was so surprised that I could have so much fun and find so much romance in what I thought was nothing more than a gritty football city. |
